Impact Lab

in todays lab i worked with rose and anna. we were in the impact crater lab. we had to drop a ping pong ball from different hights 3 differetnt times to see how big the crater would be. We learned that the higher you drop it from the depth would be larger and the width would sometimes be wider. We found out that the mass of the ball was 2.5 grams. SO that means that the hight from how tall it falls from impacts the crater.

Heat Shield Lab

Today I was working with T-Mike and Emma S. We were doing the Heat Shield Lab. We had to make something that covered a screw. We had to cover it with foil and seehow long we could leave it with heat on it without it falling off. I learned that the more space there is the less heat there is and when things touch each other heat is stronger.

Electromagnets: Winding Things Up

in todays lab i was in electromagnets. i worked with anna and lucy, and we had to measure the magnetic field with the number of winds. we noticed that the more number of winds there were the bigger the magnetic field was. i got sorta bored with this lab because i didnt really understand fully what was going on.

last mini clumination prep class

Today was our last day that we could prepare for the mini culmination. I feel like my team isn't very prepared...or is atleast not as prepared as some other teams. I feel like some parts of it are done, but then some other parts are not. I'm feeling a little stressed because sense Anja isn't going to be here for the mini culmination, I have to take her place and I don't know much about what she's doing. But tomorrow I'll learn more. I hope we do well on the mini culmination but if we make mistakes I guess it's okay because we can learn from them so that they wont happen again in the REAL mission to mars culmination.

Mini Culmination Prep 2

Today in class we did some more mini culmination prep. Today Honore and I worked on making a basket. I, honestly, was just really confused so I didn't really make something that I was proud of. I made a basket but it wasn't very exciting. I was also a little confused with what we were going to do with the basket... But I feel like I'm prepared for the mini culmination just not very excited. But later I probably will be. hehe.... I'm excited to see what the mini culmination will be like.

mini culmination preperation labs

Today in class I found out what my group was and what lab I was going to work on. I am in Group 1 in Core B. My group and I have decided that I'm going to work on RobotixX. What I have to do is make a robot that has to pick up an object from the parachute, drive it to the basket and drop it in the basket. It was pretty hard because I, honestly, sort of forgot how to put a robot together but I eventually got it. Once I got the hand of making a robot it turned out to be fun AND challenging. I didn't get to finish it but I ALMOST got to. The hard part was the I had to make sure that it could pick something up and I had that figured out but I had to figure out how to make the grabber move up and down and to the left and right. I figured out how to make it move to the left and right but now I just have to figure out how to make it move up and down. Once I have that figured out, I'm all set! I'm really excited for the mini culmination. I think it will be really fun and interesting. I'm also happy that this is sort of the PRE - culmination because then if we make any mistakes we can learn from them so that they wont happen again in the REAL culmination. I'm excited!
